Reflecting the design philosophy of ‘least disturbance’, the breathtaking golf course at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland (formerly the Doonbeg Golf Club) has been carved from sand dune origins; 14 greens and 12 fairways required no changes other than the necessary mowing of grass. All of the fairways and greens are a blend of native grasses such as fine fescues, bentgrass and ryegrass. The course is laid out as a single, par-72 loop of nine holes out and nine holes back, playing 6,885 yards from the back tees.
The course opened in 2002, and was immediately designated as Golf Digest’s “Best New International Course.” In 2010 it held the prestigious title of European Golf Resort Of The Year.
